NCP1200A is a PWM current-mode controller for universal off-line supplies featuring low standby power.

The NCP1200A is a PWM current-mode controller suitable for universal off-line supplies featuring low standby power. It enhances the previous NCP1200 series by offering a reduced optocoupler current together with an increased drive capability. With its novel concept, the circuit allows the implementation of complete off-line AC-DC adapters, battery chargers, or SMPS where standby power is a key parameter. The controller operates at a fixed frequency of 40 kHz, 60 kHz, or 100 kHz and draws power from the high-voltage rail, eliminating the need for an auxiliary winding. This simplifies the design task in battery charger applications. The current-mode control provides excellent audio susceptibility and inherent pulse-by-pulse control. When the current setpoint falls below a given value, the IC automatically enters the skip cycle mode, providing excellent efficiency at light loads. This occurs at a user-adjustable low peak current, ensuring no acoustic noise. The NCP1200A features efficient protective circuitry that disables the output pulses in the presence of an overcurrent condition, entering a safe burst mode to attempt a restart. The device auto-recovers once the fault has been resolved.

These devices feature true-differential inputs, offering better noise immunity, distortion improvements, and a wider dynamic range over single-ended inputs. A standard SPI™/QSPI™/MICROWIRE™ interface provides the clock necessary for conversion. These devices easily interface with standard digital signal processor (DSP) synchronous serial interfaces. The MAX1077/MAX1079 operate from a single +2.7V to +3.6V supply voltage. The MAX1077/MAX1079 include a 2.048V internal reference. The MAX1077 has a unipolar analog input, while the MAX1079 has a bipolar analog input. These devices feature a partial power-down mode and a full power-down mode for use between conversions, which lower the supply current to 2mA (typ) and 1µA (max), respectively. Also featured is a separate power-supply input (VL), which allows direct interfacing to +1.8V to VDD digital logic. The fast conversion speed, low-power dissipation, excellent AC performance, and DC accuracy (±0.5 LSB INL) make the MAX1077/MAX1079 ideal for industrial process control, motor control, and base-station applications. The MAX1077/MAX1079 come in a 12-pin TQFN package, and are available in the commercial (0°C to +70°C) and extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature ranges.

The NCP1086 is a 1.5A adjustable and 3.3V fixed output linear regulator that can be used as a post regulator and microprocessor supply. It has fast loop response and low dropout voltage, making it ideal for applications where low voltage operation and good transient response are important.

The MAX107 is a dual, 6-bit, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designed to allow fast and precise digitizing of in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) baseband signals. The MAX107 converts the analog signals of both I and Q components to digital outputs at 400Msps while achieving a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of typically 37dB with an input frequency of 125MHz, and an integral nonlinearity (INL) and differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ±0.25 LSB. The MAX107 analog input preamplifiers feature a 400MHz, -0.5dB, and a 1.5GHz, -3dB analog input bandwidth. Matching channel-to-channel performance is typically 0.04dB gain, 0.1LSB offset, and 0.2 degrees phase. Dynamic performance is 36.7dB signal-to-noise plus distortion (SINAD) with a 125MHz analog input signal and a sampling speed of 400MHz. A fully differential comparator design and encoding circuits reduce out-of-sequence errors, and ensure excellent metastable performance of only one error per 1016 clock cycles. In addition, the MAX107 provides LVDS digital outputs with an internal 6:12 demultiplexer that reduces the output data rate to one-half the sample clock rate. Data is output in two’s complement format. The MAX107 operates from a +5V analog supply and the LVDS output ports operate at +3.3V. The data converter’s typical power dissipation is 2.6W. The device is packaged in an 80-pin, TQFP package with exposed paddle, and is specified for the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range.
