This application note presents practical design considerations for battery chargers employing Green Mode FPS (Fairchild Power Switch). It includes designing the transformer and output filter, selecting the components and implementing constant current / constant voltage control. The step-by-step design procedure described in this paper will help engineers design battery chargers more easily. In order to make the design process more efficient, a software design tool, FPS design assistant that contains all the equations described in this paper is also provided. The design procedure is verified through an experimental prototype converter.

This application note presents the design guidelines for Quasi-Resonant Converters using FSCQ-series FPSTM (Fairchild Power Switch) in color TV applications. A Quasi-Resonant Converter (QRC) offers lower electromagnetic interference (EMI) and higher power conversion efficiency compared to conventional hard switched converters. It is particularly suitable for noise-sensitive color TV applications. The note includes practical design considerations for the transformer, output filter, sync network, component selection, and closing the feedback loop. The step-by-step design procedure described in this application note provides engineers with an easy way to design Quasi-Resonant Converters. Additionally, a software design tool called FPS design assistant, which incorporates all the equations described in this application note, is provided to enhance the design process. The design procedure is verified through an experimental prototype converter.

AN9006 is an IGBT application note that introduces the application of IGBT in camera strobe control system

This application note describes a complete flyback switched mode power supply that uses a Fairchild Power Switch. The MOSFET and its control IC are built into one package. The MOSFET is in fact a SenseFET. Various protection features are also included. Fairchild Power Switch can enhance the reliability and productivity of the system when compared to other designs. The FS6M series has a more avalanche rugged SenseFET than the previous Fairchild Power Switch series. The FS6M series features include burst mode operation for low power consumption in DPMS mode. This application note describes the features and design considerations of the FS6M series for the LCD monitor power supply and adaptor, which improves upon the existing KA5X-series.

This paper describes how to enhance the power handling capability of the SuperSOTTM-3 Power MOSFET by optimizing the design of copper mounting pads. This design reduces thermal resistance and improves power performance.
