The MAX7031 crystal-based, fractional-N transceiver is designed to transmit and receive FSK data at factory-preset carrier frequencies of 308MHz†, 315MHz, or 433.92MHz with data rates up to 33kbps (Manchester encoded) or 66kbps (NRZ encoded). This device generates a typical output power of +10dBm into a 50Ω load, and exhibits typical sensitivity of -110dBm. The MAX7031 features separate transmit and receive pins (PAOUT and LNAIN) and provides an internal RF switch that can be used to connect the transmit and receive pins to a common antenna. The MAX7031 transmit frequency is generated by a 16-bit, fractional-N, phase-locked loop (PLL), while the receiver's local oscillator (LO) is generated by an integer-N PLL. This hybrid architecture eliminates the need for separate transmit and receive crystal reference oscillators because the fractional-N PLL is preset to be 10.7MHz above the receive LO. Retaining the fixed-N PLL for the receiver avoids the higher current-drain requirements of a fractional-N PLL and keeps the receiver current drain as low as possible. The fractional-N architecture of the MAX7031 transmit PLL allows the transmit FSK signal to be preset for exact frequency deviations, and completely eliminates the problems associated with oscillator-pulling FSK signal generation. The MAX2837 is a direct-conversion zero-IF RF transceiver designed specifically for 2.3GHz to 2.7GHz wireless broadband systems. It integrates all circuitry required to implement the RF transceiver function, including RF-to-baseband receive path, baseband-to-RF transmit path, VCO, frequency synthesizer, crystal oscillator, and baseband/control interface. The device also includes circuits for on-chip DC offset cancellation, I/Q error, and carrier-leakage detection. Only a few external components are needed to form a complete wireless broadband RF radio solution, including an RF bandpass filter (BPF), crystal, RF switch, PA, and passive components. The MAX2837 eliminates the need for an external SAW filter by implementing on-chip monolithic filters for both the receiver and transmitter. The baseband filters and Rx/Tx signal paths are optimized to meet stringent noise figure and linearity specifications. The device supports up to 2048 FFT OFDM and implements programmable channel filters for RF channel bandwidths ranging from 1.75MHz to 28MHz. The MAX2850 is a single-chip, 4-channel RF transmitter IC designed for 5GHz wireless HDMI applications. It includes all circuitry required to implement the complete 4-channel MIMO RF transmitter function and crystal oscillator, providing a fully integrated transmit path, VCO, frequency synthesis, and baseband/control interface. It includes a fast-settling, sigma-delta RF fractional synthesizer with 76Hz frequency programming step size. The IC also integrates on-chip I/Q amplitude and phase-error calibration circuits. Dynamic on/off control of four external PAs is implemented with programmable precision voltages. A 4-to-1 analog mux routes external PA power-detect voltages to the RSSI pin. On-chip monolithic filters are included for transmitter I/Q baseband signal reconstruction to support both 20MHz and 40MHz RF channels. The baseband filtering and Tx signal paths are optimized to meet stringent WHDI requirements. The upconverter local oscillator is coherent among all the transmitter channels. The reverse-link control channel uses an on-chip 5GHz OFDM receiver. It shares the RF synthesizer and LO generation circuit with the MIMO transmitter.

The MAX2511 is a complete, highly integrated IF transceiver for applications employing a dual-conversion architecture. Alternatively, the MAX2511 can be used as a single-conversion transceiver if the RF operating frequency ranges from 200MHz to 440MHz. In a typical application, the receiver downconverts a high IF/RF (200MHz to 440MHz) to a 10.7MHz low IF using an image-reject mixer. Functions include an image-reject downconverter with 34dB of image suppression followed by an IF buffer that can drive an off-chip IF filter; an on-chip limiting amplifier offering 90dB of monotonic received-signal-strength indication (RSSI); and a robust limiter output driver. The transmit image-reject mixer generates a clean output spectrum to minimize filter requirements. It is followed by a 40dB variable-gain amplifier that maintains IM3 levels below -35dBc. Maximum output power is 2dBm. A VCO and oscillator buffer for driving an external prescaler are also included. The MAX2511 operates from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply and includes flexible power-management control. For applications using in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) baseband architecture for the transmitter, Maxim offers a corresponding transceiver product: the MAX2510.
