The MAX4444/MAX4445 differential line receivers offer unparalleled high-speed, low-distortion performance. Using a three op amp instrumentation amplifier architecture, these ICs have symmetrical differential inputs and a single-ended output. They operate from ±5V supplies and are capable of driving a 100Ω load to ±3.7V. The MAX4444 has an internally set closed-loop gain of +2V/V, while the MAX4445 is compensated for gains of +2V/V or greater, set by an external resistor. A low-power enable mode reduces current consumption to 3.5mA. Using current-feedback techniques, the MAX4444/MAX4445 achieve a 550MHz bandwidth while maintaining up to a 5000V/µs slew rate. Excellent differential gain/phase and noise specifications make these amplifiers ideal for a wide variety of video and RF signal-processing applications.

The MAX9532 DirectDrive® video filter amplifier is specifically designed to work in harsh environments such as automobiles. The MAX9532 provides integrated short-to-battery protection, allowing the output of the device to survive shorts up to 18V. Maxim’s DirectDrive technology eliminates large output coupling capacitors and sets the output video black level near ground. DirectDrive requires an integrated charge pump and an internal linear regulator to create a clean negative power supply so that the amplifier can pull the sync below ground. The charge pump injects so little noise into the video output that the picture is visibly flawless. The MAX9532 features an internal reconstruction filter that smoothes the steps and reduces the spikes on the video signal from the video digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The reconstruction filter typically provides ±1dB passband flatness of 9.5MHz and 42dB attenuation at 27MHz. The input of the MAX9532 can be directly connected to the output of a video DAC. The MAX9532 also features a transparent input sync-tip clamp, allowing AC-coupling of input signals with different DC biases. The MAX9532 features an internal fixed gain of 4V/V. The input full-scale video signal is nominally 0.5VP-P, and the output full-scale video signal is nominally 2VP-P. The MAX9541/MAX9542 are quadruple-channel, 2:1 video mux amplifiers with input sync tip clamps. These devices select between two video sources and support up to four channels on each source. The MAX9541 has integrated lowpass filters that are optimized for standard-definition video signals such as composite and red, green, blue (RGB). The filters typically have ±1dB pass-band flatness out to 9.5MHz and 47dB attenuation at 27MHz. The MAX9542 has a wider bandwidth of 15MHz because it does not have integrated lowpass filters, mak-ing it suitable for not only standard-definition video sig- nals, but also video graphics array (VGA) signals with a 640 x 480 resolution at up to 85Hz refresh rate. Video signals are AC-coupled to the inputs of the MAX9541/MAX9542. The input sync-tip clamps set the internal DC level. The amplifiers have 2V/V gain, and the outputs can be DC-coupled to a 75Ω load, which is the equivalent of two video loads, or AC-coupled to a 150Ω load. Both the MAX9541/MAX9542 feature a low-power shut- down mode, in which supply current is reduced to 35µA. MAX9515 is an ultra-small standard-definition video filter amplifier with automatic shutdown from Texas Instruments. The device is packaged in a 1mm x 1mm UCSP with 4 bumps. The automatic shutdown circuitry eliminates the need for a shutdown control. This feature provides intelligent power management by disabling the filter and output amplifier in the absence of a video input signal and/or an output video load. At shutdown, the device only consumes 5µA. MAX9515 features an internal reconstruction filter that smoothes the steps and reduces the spikes on the video signal from the video digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The reconstruction filter typically has ±1dB passband flatness to 9MHz and typically 50dB of attenuation at 27MHz. The video input to the MAX9515 can be directly connected to the DAC output. MAX9515 has an internal fixed gain of 2V/V and expects a nominal full-scale video input signal of 1VP-P. MAX9515 is specified to operate over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.

The MAX9652/MAX9653/MAX9654 are 3.3V, triple-channel, high-definition (HD) video-filter amplifiers. Specially designed for YPbPr component video signals, these devices are ideal for a wide range of set-top box and portable applications. The inputs to the MAX9652/ MAX9653/MAX9654 are AC-coupled. YIN has a sync- tip clamp while PBIN and PRIN have keyed clamps. The output buffer has gain of 2V/V and drives a stan- dard back-terminated 75Ω video load. The passband of the MAX9654 is logic selectable between standard definition (SD) and high definition. The MAX9652/MAX9653 have a fixed passband for HD video. The MAX9654 SD lowpass filter has ±1dB passband out to 8.5MHz and 57dB attenuation at 27MHz. The MAX9652/MAX9653/MAX9654 HD lowpass filter have ±1dB passband out to 42MHz and 50dB attenuation at 109MHz. The devices consume only 9.5mA per channel and operate from a 3.3V supply. The MAX9653/MAX9654 feature a low-power, 12µA shutdown mode. The MAX9652/MAX9653/MAX9654 are specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.

The MAX11506/MAX11507 integrated filters offer six channels, three for standard-definition (SD) video and three for either SD or high-definition (HD) video, and include +6dB output buffers on each channel. These video filters are ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing in applications such as set-top boxes, digital video recorders, DVD players, and personal video recorders. The MAX11506/MAX11507 video inputs feature a transparent clamp compatible with AC- and DC-coupled input signals and allow DAC outputs to be directly coupled. The filters provide -3dB bandwidth of 9.0MHz for the SD filters and 33MHz for the HD filters. Each channel includes an output buffer with a gain of +6dB capable of driving a full 2VP-P video signal into a 150Ω video load. The buffers drive either AC- or DC-coupled loads and assure a blanking level of below 1V after the backmatch resistor. DC-coupling eliminates bulky coupling capacitors. The MAX11506 offers a flat passband while the MAX11507 features 0.8dB peaking on the three SD-only channels to compensate for system roll-off. The MAX11506/MAX11507 operate from a single +5V supply and are available in the 0°C to +70°C commercial temperature grade. The MAX11506/MAX11507 are offered in the 16-pin QSOP package.

The MAX11503 is a low-power video amplifier with a Y/C summer and chroma mute. The device accepts an S-video or Y/C input and sums the luma (Y) and chroma (C) signals into a composite CVBS signal which can be connected directly to a TV monitor. The MAX11503 drives two terminated 75Ω video coax cables. The MAX11503 features include chroma mute, power save, and SAG correction. Chroma mute disables the chroma buffer. If the device is used to combine Y and C signals in a camera application, the chroma mute may be used in low-light situations. This removes all chroma including burst which causes a downstream composite video decoder to interpret the video signal as luminance only, thus improving image quality. SAG correction allows small output capacitors to be used in AC-coupled output applications. The MAX11503 operates from a single 2.7V to 5.25V supply, is specified over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range, and is available in a small 8-pin µMAX® package.

The MAX9517/MAX9524 are low-power video amplifiers with integrated reconstruction filters. Specially suited for standard-definition video signals, such as composite and luma, these devices are ideal for a wide range of applications such as cell phones and security/CCTV cameras. Video signals should be DC-coupled into the MAX9517 input and AC-coupled into the MAX9524 input. The MAX9517/MAX9524 have two single-pole, single-throw (SPST) analog switches that can be used to route stereo audio, video, or digital signals. The reconstruction filter typically has ±1dB passband flatness at 9MHz and 52dB attenuation at 27MHz. The amplifiers have a gain of 2V/V, and the outputs can be DC-coupled to a load of 75Ω, which is equivalent to two video loads. The outputs can be AC-coupled to a load of 150Ω, which is equivalent to one video load. The MAX9517/MAX9524 operate from a 2.7V to 3.6V single supply and are specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range. The MAX9586–MAX9589 are small, low-power, multi-channel video amplifiers with integrated reconstruction filters and input clamps. Specially suited for standard-definition video signals, these devices are ideal for a wide range of television and set-top box applications. The video signals from the outputs of a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) are AC-coupled to the inputs of the MAX9586–MAX9589. External video signals, in which the DC bias is usually not known, can also be AC-coupled to the inputs of the MAX9586–MAX9589. The input sync-tip clamps set the DC level of composite video or luma signals, and the input bias circuits set the DC level of chroma signals. The reconstruction filter typically has ±1dB passband flatness at 8.5MHz and 55dB attenuation at 27MHz. The amplifiers have 2V/V gain and the outputs can be DC-coupled to a 75Ω load, which is the equivalent of two video loads, or AC-coupled to a 150Ω load. The MAX11500 is a three-channel, high-definition (HD) video filter integrated circuit that includes input video clamps and output buffers. This device is ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing video applications such as set-top boxes, hard-disk recorders (HDRs), DVD players, and personal video recorders. The 6th-order channel filters have a typical -3dB bandwidth of 33MHz. Each channel has an output buffer with a gain of +6dB and can drive a full 2VP-P video signal into one standard 150Ω video load. These buffers can drive either an AC- or DC-coupled load such that the blanking level voltage after the backmatch resistor is less than 1V. The video inputs feature a transparent clamp for AC- and DC-coupled input signals. If the input signal does not go below ground, the input clamp is inactive, thus enabling DAC outputs to be DC-coupled to the input. The device operates from a single +5V supply, is offered in the upper commercial 0°C to +85°C temperature range, and is available in a small 8-pin SO package.
