The MAX11501/MAX11502 integrated filters offer three channels of 5th-order filters for standard-definition video and include +6dB output buffers on each chan- nel. These video filters are ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing in applications such as set-top boxes, security systems, digital video recorders (DVRs), DVD players, and personal video recorders. The MAX11501/MAX11502 video inputs feature a trans- parent clamp compatible with AC- and DC-coupled input signals and allow DAC outputs to be directly cou- pled. The 5th-order filters provide a typical -3dB band- width of 8.6MHz (MAX11501) and 8.9MHz (MAX11502) and offer either a flat passband response (MAX11501) or a +0.8dB peaking passband response (MAX11502) on all channels. Each channel includes an output buffer with a gain of +6dB capable of driving a full 2VP-P video signal into two standard 150Ω (75Ω back-terminated) video loads. The buffers drive either AC- or DC-coupled loads and assure a blanking level of below 1V after the back- match resistor. The MAX11501/MAX11502 operate from a single +5V supply and are available in the upper commercial 0°C to +85°C temperature range. These devices are avail- able in small 8-pin SO packages.

The MAX7453 is a low-cost, triple-channel video reconstruction filter for S-video and CVBS video-signal applications. This device is ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing video applications such as set-top boxes, DVD players, hard-disk recorders (HDRs), and personal video recorders.

The MAX7457 4-channel video switch is ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC-smoothing video applications or wherever analog video is reconstructed from a digital data stream such as cable/satellite/terrestrial set-top boxes (STBs), DVD players, hard disk recorders (HDRs), and personal video recorders (PVRs). The MAX7457 filters and buffers CVBS and RGB video signals, making it ideal for dual SCART (peritelevision) STBs with an auxiliary CVBS input. The MAX7457 operates from a single +5V supply and has a flat passband out to 5MHz with a stopband attenuation of 43dB at 27MHz, making it ideal for NTSC, PAL, and standard-definition digital TV (SDTV) video systems. The MAX7457 output buffers have a fixed gain of +6dB and are capable of driving two standard 150Ω video loads. The channel for CVBS video has high-frequency boost circuitry that enhances picture sharpness with up to +1.2dB of gain boost without degradation in the stopband. The video output drivers can be disabled by an external control input. The MAX7457 is available in a 16-pin, 5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm TQFN package, and is specified over the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range.

The MAX9508 video filter amplifier with SmartSleep and bidirectional video support is ideal for set-top boxes (STBs), portable DVD players, and portable media players (PMPs). The inputs can be directly connected to the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) outputs. The reconstruction filter removes high-frequency signals above 6.75MHz. The amplifiers have 6dB of gain, and the outputs can be DC-coupled to a load of 75Ω, which is equivalent to two video loads, or it can be AC-coupled to a load of 150Ω. The SmartSleep circuitry intelligently reduces power consumption based on the presence of the input signal and the output loads. When the MAX9508 does not detect the presence of sync on the input video signal, the supply current is reduced to less than 7µA. The device only enables a video amplifier when there is an active video input signal and an attached load. The video amplifier remains on while a load is connected. If the load is disconnected, the video amplifier is turned off. The MAX9508 contains three reconstruction filters, four video amplifiers, and a pulldown switch at one of the two CVBS outputs. The MAX9508 has the ability to control the bidirectional video signals at the CVBS video connections without the need for separate switches or relays. This feature is particularly useful for portable DVD players, which often use the same connector to drive a composite video output and to accept an external video signal to display on the LCD panel.

The MAX7428/MAX7430/MAX7432A filters are low-cost, high-performance replacements for standard discrete filter and buffer solutions. They are ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing video applications, when analog video is reconstructed from a digital data stream. These devices require a single +5V supply and the filters have a cutoff frequency optimized for NTSC, PAL, and standard definition digital TV (SDTV) video signals. The MAX7428/MAX7430/MAX7432A feature Maxim’s single-pin bus (MSPB™) interface to digitally control channel selection (IN_A or IN_B), adjust high-frequency boost, bypass the filter, configure luma vs. chroma operation, and control the output disable. The MAX7428 single-channel filter is ideal for composite (CVBS) video signals. The MAX7430 dual filter is optimized for S-Video (Y/C) applications. The MAX7432A triple filter is optimized for component (YPbPr or embedded synchronous RGB) video signals. The MAX7428 is available in a tiny 8-pin SOT23 package, the MAX7430 is available in a miniature 10-pin µMAX® package, and the MAX7432A is available in a 14-pin TSSOP package. The MAX7428/MAX7430/MAX7432A are fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range.

MAX3815A is a HDMI/DVI digital video equalizer from Maxim that automatically compensates for DVI™ and HDMI™ v1.3 cables, extending the usable cable distance up to 40 meters (1.65Gbps) and 35 meters (2.25Gbps).

The MAX3816A DDC/I2C extender is designed to compensate for excessive load capacitance of long DVI, HDMI, and VGA cables. It restores signal integrity bidirectionally for both DDC clock and data over cable distances up to 60 meters. The MAX3816A features compensation for cable capacitance up to 3000pF, typically exceeding 5000pF. It detects state-change assertion by the logical 'AND' of the source side and display side, and asserts the new state with a rail-to-rail slew-rate-limited driver capable of meeting I2C rise and fall time requirements. A holdoff period of 2.5µs prevents subsequent state changes while the cable channel settles. The MAX3816A consumes 25mW under full load at 100kbps (excluding pullup resistors) and is available in a 16-pin TSSOP package. It operates from 0°C to +70°C.
