UNITRODE UC3717A Stepper Motor Drive Circuit Datasheet
The UNITRODE UC3717A is an improved stepper motor drive circuit designed to switch current in one winding of a bipolar stepper motor. It supports full-step, half-step, and micro-step capabilities with bipolar output currents up to 1A and operates over a motor supply voltage range of 10-46V. The device includes built-in fast recovery commutating diodes and an integrated bootstrap circuit to lower recirculation saturation voltages and improve efficiency.
The circuit incorporates an LS-TTL compatible logic input, a current sensor, a monostable timer, a thermal shutdown network, and an H-bridge output stage. Two UC3717A devices along with a few external components form a complete control and drive unit for LS-TTL or micro-processor controlled stepper motor systems. The device is characterized for operation over a temperature range of 0°C to +70°C.
