The Morningstar TriStar solar controller provides fanless, PWM battery charging, load control and diversion regulation for up to 60 A at 48 V.
About this manual
The TriStar™ three‑function solar controller is a fanless, high‑reliability unit that offers PWM battery charging, load control, or diversion regulation. It features a large heat sink for operation up to 60 °C ambient and can handle solar arrays up to 3.2 kW (60 A at 48 V). Adjustable DIP switches provide seven preset configurations, while an RS‑232 port enables custom settings, data logging, and remote monitoring.
Optional accessories include the TriStar Meter‑2 LCD display, remote temperature sensor, Ethernet Meterbus converter, and relay driver, allowing extensive system monitoring and network integration. The controller includes comprehensive electronic protections such as reverse polarity, short‑circuit, over‑current, high‑temperature, over‑voltage, and lightning surge protection.
