This document describes the features and characteristics of four products: 74F240/74F240A and 74F241/74F241A. They are octal buffers that are ideal for driving bus lines of buffer memory address registers. The outputs have three-state buffer function and can sink 64mA of current and source 15mA of current. The 74F240A/74F241A have guaranteed output skew within 2.0ns, reduced ground bounce and power consumption, and reduced loading.
This document is a product specification datasheet for the Philips 74F240, 74F240A, 74F241, and 74F241A integrated circuits. These devices are octal buffers and an octal inverter buffer designed for driving bus lines, featuring 3-state outputs capable of sinking 64mA and sourcing 15mA. The 'A' variants (74F240A and 74F241A) are functionally equivalent to their non-A counterparts but include design improvements to reduce ground noise and loading effects.
| Supply Voltage | 4.5 to 5.5 V |
|---|---|
| Operating Temperature | 0 to +70 °C |
| Output Sink Current | 64 mA |
| Output Source Current | 15 mA |
| Output Skew (Max) | 2.0ns |
The 74F240A is designed to reduce effects of ground noise and has reduced loading compared to the standard 74F240.
The 74F240 is an octal buffer, meaning it has eight outputs.
