About this manual

Agilent PLgel MiniMIX columns are narrow bore GPC columns designed to offer high performance, excellent solvent compatibility, and mechanical stability. They provide benefits comparable to conventional ID columns, including a significant reduction in solvent consumption, increased operator safety, and lower disposal costs.

To maintain the same linear velocity through the column, the volumetric flow rate must be reduced in line with the column cross-sectional area. This adjustment allows for significantly lower solvent consumption while minimizing system dead volume to avoid excessive band broadening.

Frequently asked questions

What is the benefit of using narrow bore GPC columns?

They offer high performance, excellent solvent compatibility, mechanical stability, and a significant reduction in solvent consumption.

Can narrow bore columns be used with conventional GPC equipment?

Yes, they can be used with conventional GPC equipment and provide high performance comparable to conventional ID columns.

How much does solvent consumption reduce with a 4.6 mm ID column compared to a 7.5 mm ID column?

It represents a 62 % reduction in solvent consumption when running at equivalent linear velocities.
