The Application Note describes the application of accurate mass measurement using the ESI TOF technology, and gives mean and standard deviation of repeatedly measured mass accuracies from a real-life pharmaceutical sample.
This document presents a statistical evaluation of mass accuracy measurements performed by an Agilent LC/MSD TOF mass spectrometer. The study utilizes a real-life pharmaceutical sample consisting of degradation products from the antibiotic drug amoxicillin to assess instrument performance under realistic application conditions.
The analysis was conducted using an Agilent 1100 Series capillary LC system coupled with an Agilent LC/MSD TOF equipped with a dual sprayer source. The experiment involved measuring the accurate mass of five identified degradation compounds and their fragments. Statistical analysis of 135 data points yielded an overall mass accuracy of 1.73 ppm with a standard deviation of 0.97 ppm, demonstrating the instrument's capability for reliable empirical formula confirmation.
| Overall mass accuracy | 1.73 ppm |
|---|---|
| Standard deviation (ppm) | 0.97 ppm |
| Confidence interval (3s) | 99.7 % probability |
| Mass range | m/z 114 to m/z 515 |
| Instrument resolution | above 15,000 |
The overall mass accuracy was calculated as 1.73 ppm.
A real-life pharmaceutical sample of degraded antibiotic amoxicillin was used.
Analyst QS software was used for data analysis.
