82C37A is a high-performance DMA controller produced by Harris. It is compatible with the NMOS 8237A and has four independent channels with automatic initialization capability. It supports cascading and has a maximum transmission speed of 4 MBytes/sec. It supports memory-to-memory transfers and static CMOS design, which consumes very little power. It can read internal registers.
The Harris 82C37A is an enhanced version of the industry standard 8237A DMA controller, fabricated using Harris' advanced 2 micron CMOS process. It offers increased functionality, improved performance, and dramatically reduced power consumption compared to its predecessors.
The device features four independent maskable channels with autoinitialization capability and supports high-speed data transfers up to 6.25MBytes/sec with a 12.5MHz clock. It is fully TTL/CMOS compatible and pin-compatible with NMOS designs, allowing it to be used with industry standard microprocessors such as the 80C286, 8086, Z80, and others.
