About this manual

The Harris HMP8116 is a high-quality semiconductor device designed to decode baseband composite or S-video NTSC and PAL signals. It converts these analog inputs into either digital YCbCr or RGB data, supporting various video standards including NTSC M and multiple PAL variants.

In addition to standard decoding operations, the HMP8116 includes hardware for decoding Vertical Blanking Interval (VBI) data such as closed captioning and widescreen signalling. The device also generates digital video patterns for blue screens, black screens, and full-screen color bars.
