The OPF522 is a component that is pre-mounted and ready to use. It has been pre-tested with fiber to ensure performance. It features a popular style receptacle and is optimized for fiber optic applications using 50 to 200 micron fiber.
The OPF522 is a 5 MBd fiber optic receiver that incorporates a monolithic photo‑IC combining a photodetector and DC amplifier with an open‑collector Schottky output. The device is pre‑mounted, pre‑tested with fiber, and uses a popular style receptacle optimized for 50 µm to 200 µm fiber. Its output is compatible with TTL and CMOS logic and operates from a single +5 V supply.
Electrical characteristics include a supply voltage range of –0.5 V to 7.0 V, maximum output current of 25 mA, and output voltage from –0.5 V to 18.0 V. The receiver operates between 40 °C and +85 °C (storage –55 °C to +115 °C) and supports data rates up to 5 MBd with propagation delays of 65 ns (low‑to‑high) and 49 ns (high‑to‑low). Proper ESD handling and a bypass capacitor from VCC to common are required.
| Data Rate | 5 MBd |
|---|---|
| Propagation Delay LOW to HIGH | 65 ns |
| Propagation Delay HIGH to LOW | 49 ns |
It is optimized for fiber optic applications using 50 µm to 200 µm fiber, with a maximum size under 100 µm for the tested specifications.
