About this manual

The KT830/KT840 series of slotted optical switches provide design engineers with the flexibility of a custom device from a standard product line. These devices feature a .125" wide slot and allow users to specify electrical output parameters, lead or wire termination, lead spacing, discrete shell material, and aperture widths.

All housings are constructed from an opaque grade of injection-molded polysulfone (P1700-935) to minimize sensitivity to ambient radiation. The series is available in two main configurations: the 'L' series with .020" square leads and the 'W' series terminated with 24 inches of insulated wire.

Frequently asked questions

What cleaning agents are recommended for the housing?

Methanol or isopropanol are recommended as a cleaning agent because the housing is soluble in chlorinated hydrocarbons and ketones.

What wire colors correspond to which functions for the W series?

RED is IRED Anode, WHITE is Phototransistor Collector, BLACK is IRED Cathode, and GREEN is Phototransistor Emitter.
