ISL6295 is a low voltage fuel gauge IC from Intersil. It measures, stores and reports all critical parameters required for rechargeable battery monitoring with a minimum of external components. It precisely measures charge/discharge current as well as voltage and temperature of a battery pack.
The ISL6295 integrates a 16‑bit (15‑bit plus sign) sigma‑delta A/D converter, on‑chip voltage regulator, precision time base, temperature sensor and 256‑byte non‑volatile EEPROM. It measures charge/discharge current, voltage and temperature of a single‑cell Li‑ion/Li‑Poly pack and communicates via an SMBus/I²C‑compatible 2‑wire interface.
Typical applications include notebook PCs, PDAs and handheld devices where accurate battery monitoring and low power consumption are required. The device supports multiple power modes, including run, sample, sample‑sleep and shelf‑sleep, with supply currents ranging from sub‑picoampere to sub‑microampere levels.
