About this manual

The Intersil HGTP1N120BND (TO‑220AB) and HGT1S1N120BNDS (TO‑263AB) are non‑punch‑through (NPT) N‑Channel IGBTs designed for high‑voltage switching applications such as motor drives and power supplies. They combine MOSFET‑like input impedance with low on‑state conduction loss of bipolar transistors.

The datasheet provides absolute maximum ratings, electrical specifications, typical performance curves, packaging information, and detailed ESD handling precautions. It also includes guidance on operating frequency limits and thermal performance for designers.

Frequently asked questions

How should the IGBTs be handled to avoid ESD damage?

Handle the devices with grounded wrist straps, keep leads shorted together, and never insert or remove them from powered circuits.

What is the recommended operating frequency limit for a typical device?

The typical device’s operating frequency is limited by the smaller of f_yax_i and f_max, based on junction temperature and switching losses.
