About this manual

The LP3879 micropower regulator provides 800 mA fixed‑output voltage with very low noise (18 pV RMS) and a ground‑pin current as low as 5.5 mA. It is offered in 8‑lead PSOP and LLP surface‑mount packages and supports input voltages from 2.5 V to 6 V.

Typical applications include ASIC power supplies, graphics cards, set‑top boxes, printers, DSP/FPGA supplies, SMPS post‑regulators and medical instrumentation. The device includes a shutdown pin that can reduce quiescent current to less than 10 pA when pulled low.

Frequently asked questions

What are the standard output voltages for the LP3879?

The LP3879 is available with fixed output voltages of 1.00 V or 1.20 V, with custom options in 50 mV steps between 1.0 V and 1.2 V.

How much current does the shutdown pin draw when the device is turned off?

When the shutdown pin is pulled low, the LP3879 draws less than 10 pA of quiescent current.

What is the typical ground‑pin current at full load?

At an 800 mA load the ground‑pin current is typically 5.5 mA.
