About this manual

The Quantum E3A Evaluation Board is designed to work with the QT300 16‑bit capacitance‑to‑digital converter sensor IC. The guide explains how to install the sensor, configure jumpers, power the board with a 9 V alkaline battery or external supply, and perform basic calibration using the on‑board buttons.

Detailed sections describe the board layout, connector pinouts, schematic diagram, and LCD display modes, helping users understand both active and passive operation and how to connect external hardware for data monitoring or cloning.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calibrate the E3A board?

Press the LOWER button with a plastic pen while the sensor pad is untouched, then press the UPPER button while a finger is on the sensor pad to set the lower and upper range endpoints.

What does the MODE jumper control?

The MODE jumper selects between ACTIVE mode, where the LCD drives the QT300 and shows data, and PASSIVE mode, where the LCD only monitors SPI data from an external host.

What is the purpose of the sensor select switch?

It connects the sensor’s sense pin either to the internal pad (UP) or to the external connector (DOWN).
