This document provides detailed information about the HFBR-R/EXXYYYZ series of plastic optical fiber cables, including their features and characteristics, applications, attenuation chart, etc.
The HFBR-R/EXXYYYZ series consists of plastic optical fiber (POF) cables with a single step‑index fiber in a black polyethylene jacket. The duplex cable is made of two simplex fibers joined by a zipcord web and is available in standard (0.22 dB/m) and extra‑low‑loss (0.19 dB/m) grades. The cables meet UL VW‑1 flame‑retardant requirements and are used for industrial data links, telecom switching, PC bus extensions, LANs, video, medical instruments, and high‑voltage isolation.
Four connector styles (simplex, simplex latching, duplex, duplex latching) are offered, each with snap‑in action and color‑coded identification. The document provides detailed mechanical and optical specifications, step‑by‑step termination instructions, polishing procedures, and an ordering guide for cables, connectors, adapters, and accessories.
| Standard POF attenuation | 0.22 dB/m (typical) |
|---|---|
| Extra low loss POF attenuation | 0.19 dB/m (typical) |
| Numerical Aperture (NA) | 0.46‑0.50 |
| Core diameter | 0.94‑1.06 mm |
| Jacket diameter | 2.13‑2.27 mm |
| Propagation delay constant | 5.0 ns/m |
| Storage temperature range | -55 °C to +85 °C |
| Short‑term tensile force (single channel) | 50 N |
| Recommended nut torque | 0.57 N·m |
The recommended nut torque is 0.57 N·m.
The maximum panel thickness is 4.1 mm (0.16 inch).
A simplex connector provides a retention force of about 8 N (1.8 lb).
