HFBR-R/EXXYYYZ Series (POF) plastic optical fiber cable is compatible with Avago Versatile Link family of connectors and fiber optic components. It adopts a 1mm diameter Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) and is available in two grades: low cost standard POF with a typical attenuation of 0.22 dB/m, or high performance extra low loss POF with a typical attenuation of 0.19 dB/m. The product is widely used in factory automation and plant control industrial data links, intra-system links, board-to-board and rack-to-rack links, telecommunications switching systems, computer-to-peripheral data links, PC bus extension, proprietary LANs, digitized video, medical instruments, reduction of lightning and voltage transient susceptibility, and high voltage isolation.
The HFBR‑R/EXXYYYZ series are plastic optical fiber (POF) cables built with a single step‑index fiber inside a black polyethylene jacket. The duplex cable consists of two simplex fibers joined by a zip‑cord web. Standard‑attenuation cables have a typical loss of 0.22 dB/m, while extra‑low‑loss versions achieve 0.19 dB/m. All cables meet UL VW‑1 flame‑retardant requirements and are offered in un‑connectored or connectored configurations.
Four connector styles are supplied – simplex, simplex latching, duplex and duplex latching – each with snap‑in action and color‑coded housings. The document includes mechanical and optical ratings, a step‑by‑step termination and polishing procedure, and an ordering guide that lists part numbers for cables, connectors, adapters and polishing kits. Installation notes cover temperature limits, bend radii, tensile forces and recommended RTV adhesive for extreme environments.
