About this manual

The AD580 is a low‑cost, 3‑terminal, temperature‑compensated bandgap voltage reference that delivers a fixed 2.5 V output for input voltages between 4.5 V and 30 V. Laser‑trimmed thin‑film resistors give an initial tolerance of ±0.4 % and a temperature stability of better than 10 ppm/°C, while the device draws a maximum of 1.5 mA quiescent current. It is offered in a hermetic TO‑52 metal‑can package and MIL‑STD‑883‑qualified versions are available.

The reference is suited for precision data‑converter applications, low‑power CMOS systems, and any design that can benefit from a single‑supply 2.5 V reference. Multiple variants (J, K, L, M, etc.) cover standard (0 °C to +70 °C) and extended (‑55 °C to +125 °C) temperature ranges, and the part can also be configured as a programmable current limiter with external resistors.
