About this manual

The TEMIC 80C52 and 80C32 are high‑performance CMOS versions of the 8052/8032 NMOS 8‑bit microcontrollers. They feature a fully static design that allows the clock to be reduced to any value, even 0 Hz, without loss of data. The 80C52 includes 8 KB ROM, 256 B RAM, 32 I/O lines, three 16‑bit timers, a full‑duplex serial port and on‑chip oscillator, while the 80C32 is the ROM‑less variant.

The devices support multiple power‑saving modes (Idle and Power‑Down), a range of supply voltages (2.7 V – 5.5 V) and clock frequencies up to 44 MHz. Detailed pin descriptions, electrical characteristics, and optional features such as Secret ROM encryption and a 64‑bit Secret TAG are provided.

Frequently asked questions

What power‑saving modes are available on the TEMIC 80C52/80C32?

The devices support Idle mode, where the CPU clock is gated off but peripherals remain active, and Power‑Down mode, which stops the oscillator and saves RAM while all other functions are inoperative.

How can the clock frequency be reduced without losing data?

Because of the fully static design, the clock can be reduced to 0 Hz (stop‑clock mode) without any loss of data in memory or registers.

What is the purpose of the Secret ROM option?

Secret ROM encrypts the ROM code with random keys, making it impossible to read the program contents directly from the chip.

What supply voltage range is required for normal operation?

Normal operation requires a VCC of 2.7 V to 5.5 V; the devices can also run at 5 V when operating up to 44 MHz.
