ST7570 is a power line networking system-on-chip from ST company. This application note introduces the usage of the chip, including electrical characteristics, safety recommendations, chip function descriptions, etc.
This document serves as a design guide for the ST7570 S-FSK power line networking system-on-chip, specifically focusing on its application in Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems. It details the features of the ST7570 demonstration board, which allows users to evaluate the chip's transmitting and receiving performance directly on the power line according to the European CENELEC EN50065-1 standard.
The guide covers the electrical and thermal characteristics of the demonstration board, safety recommendations, and a comprehensive description of the ST7570 chip. It also provides detailed descriptions of the demonstration tools, test and measurement tools, and the specific sections of the demonstration board, including line coupling, conducted disturbances, PCB layout guidelines, and power supply requirements.
| Reception filter -3 dB bandwidth | 50 kHz |
|---|---|
| Transformer isolation | 4 kV |
| AC mains voltage range | 85 Vac to 265 Vac |
| Mains frequency | 50-60 Hz |
The board is designed to transmit and receive on the mains using a spread-spectrum FSK signal within the European CENELEC EN50065-1 standard A-band.
It is a useful tool which exploits the performance capability of the ST7570 S-FSK power line networking system-on-chip.
The typical current absorption in RX mode is 7 mA.
