This document describes the Philips Semiconductors TDA1546T Bitstream Continuous Calibration DAC with digital sound processing (BCC-DAC), including its easy application, high performance, and digital sound processing features. The chip includes volume control, sound processing, and sound monitoring capabilities.
The Philips TDA1546T is a Bitstream Continuous Calibration digital-to-analog converter (BCC-DAC) featuring unique signal processing functions. In addition to basic digital filtering and conversion, it offers advanced capabilities such as volume control, tone control, bass boost, and spectrum analyzer readout. The device accepts I2S-bus data input formats with word lengths up to 20 bits and various Japanese serial data input formats.
The TDA1546T operates as a master or slave with selectable system clocks and is suitable for applications in DCC, CD, DAT, and MD players. It includes an incorporated Digital Speaker System mode with a digital crossover filter. Four cascaded FIR filters and a sample-and-hold function increase the oversampling rate, while a second-order noise shaper converts oversampled data to a bitstream for the 5-bit DACs.
