This document describes the features and characteristics of the TJA1020 LIN transceiver, including the maximum baud rate, low electromagnetic emission, and high electromagnetic immunity. The transceiver is designed for in-vehicle sub-networks and supports various low power management and protection features.
The Philips TJA1020 is an integrated circuit designed as an interface between a LIN master/slave protocol controller and the physical bus in a Local Interconnect Network (LIN). It is optimized for in-vehicle sub-networks with transmission speeds up to 20 Kbaud, providing controlled slew rate and wave shaping to minimize ElectroMagnetic Emission (EME). The device supports both normal and low slope modes to further reduce emissions and includes features like passive behavior in an unpowered state and input compatibility with 3.3V and 5V devices.
The TJA1020 offers various operating modes including Sleep, Standby, Normal Slope, and Low Slope modes to manage power consumption and bus activity. It features integrated termination for slave applications, wake-up source recognition (local or remote), and robust protections against automotive transients (ISO7637) and short circuits. The chip is available in a plastic small outline package (SOT96-1) or as a bare die.
