This document describes the features and characteristics of the Exar Corporation's SPX5205 150mA low-noise LDO voltage regulator, including low noise output, 1% initial accuracy, very low quiescent current, low dropout voltage, current and thermal limiting, reverse-battery protection, and wide range of fixed output voltages. The SPX5205 is suitable for battery-powered applications and areas where power conservation is desired.
The SPX5205 is a 150 mA low‑noise LDO voltage regulator offered in fixed output versions from 1.2 V to 5.0 V and an adjustable version. Key features include 40 µV rms output noise, 70 nA quiescent current, 210 mV dropout at 150 mA, reverse‑battery protection and current/thermal limiting, all in a compact 5‑pin SOT‑23 package.
The handbook contains electrical characteristics, typical performance graphs, application circuit examples, ordering information and revision history. It guides designers on selecting output capacitors, using the BYP pin for noise reduction, and configuring the EN pin for enable/disable control in portable and battery‑powered equipment such as PDAs, cellular phones and laptops.
| Output Voltage Tolerance | ±1 % |
|---|---|
| Quiescent Current | 70 nA |
| Output Noise | 40 µV rms (10 Hz‑100 kHz) |
| Current Limit | 500 mA |
The regulator is rated for a maximum output current of 150 mA.
Pull the EN (enable) pin high above 2.0 V to enable the regulator, and pull it below 0.4 V to disable it.
Fixed output versions are available at 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.0 V, 2.5 V, 2.8 V, 3.0 V, 3.3 V and 5.0 V.
The device is supplied in a 5‑pin SOT‑23 package.
