About this manual

The AD8400 family provides single‑, dual‑, or quad‑channel digital potentiometers in 256‑position steps. Available resistance values are 1 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, and 100 kΩ, and the devices are offered in SOIC‑8, SOIC‑14, PDIP, and TSSOP packages for space‑constrained designs. They feature a 3‑wire SPI‑compatible serial interface, low‑power shutdown (<5 µA), and are qualified for automotive temperature ranges (‑40 °C to +125 °C).

The datasheet details electrical characteristics for each resistance version, including supply voltage range (2.7 V–5.5 V), 8‑bit resolution, bandwidth up to 600 kHz, and timing diagrams for serial communication. Ordering information, pin configurations, and application examples such as mechanical potentiometer replacement and programmable filters are also provided.
