SMAJ5.0 THRU SMAJ170CA Surface Mount Transzorb Transient Voltage Suppressor Datasheet

SMAJ5.0 thru SMAJ170CA are surface mount TransZorb™ transient voltage suppressors. They are optimized for LAN protection applications, ideal for ESD protection of data lines in accordance with IEC 1000-4-2 (IEC801-2), and ideal for EFT protection of data lines in accordance with IEC1000-4-4 (IEC801-4). The plastic package has Underwriters Laboratory Flammability Classification 94V-0. These devices have a glass passivated junction, excellent clamping capability, low incremental surge resistance, fast response time, and a peak pulse power capability of 300W with a 10/1000µs waveform.

About this manual

The SMAJ5.0 through SMAJ170CA series provides surface‑mount transient voltage suppression for LAN, ESD and EFT protection. Features include a stand‑off voltage range of 5.0 to 170 V, 300 W peak pulse power capability, fast response time (typically < 1.0 ps), and a UL‑94V‑0 plastic package.

Mechanical data specify a JEDEC DO‑214AC molded plastic case, solder‑plated terminals, and a recommended pad layout of 0.010 in (2.5 mm) longer than the lead contact. Electrical characteristics cover peak pulse power, peak pulse current, forward surge current, breakdown voltage, and reverse leakage, with detailed tables for each device variant.
