The HIP6004B is one of the HIP6000 series PWM controllers that integrates all of the control, output adjustment, monitoring and protection functions into a single package, providing complete control and protection for a DC-DC converter optimized for high-performance microprocessor applications.
The HIP6004B provides complete control and protection for a DC‑DC buck converter optimized for high‑performance microprocessor applications. It drives two N‑Channel MOSFETs in a synchronous‑rectified topology and integrates a TTL‑compatible 5‑bit DAC for precise output‑voltage programming.
Key features include a programmable 200 kHz free‑running oscillator (adjustable 50 kHz‑1 MHz), voltage‑mode PWM control with a 0‑100 % duty ratio, fast transient response, and built‑in over‑voltage, over‑current and power‑good monitoring. The device is offered in SOIC, TSSOP and QFN packages and is suited for powering Pentium, PowerPC, K6, 6X86 and Alpha microprocessors.

PGOOD is an open‑collector output that goes low when the converter output voltage is not within +10 % of the DAC reference; otherwise it stays high (except for a special VID combination).
