The ICL7673 is a low-cost transistor from Intersil that is used in power switching applications. It can automatically switch between two power supplies, and will automatically switch to the backup supply in the event of a failure in the main supply.
The ICL7673 is a monolithic CMOS battery backup circuit designed to switch between a main power source and a battery backup. It provides low‑loss, low‑current consumption switching for volatile CMOS RAM, real‑time clocks, and other low‑power applications.
The device includes comparator‑driven MOS switches, logic indicator outputs, and optional external PNP transistors for higher current capability. Typical performance includes a 2.5 V–15 V input range, 50 µs switching time, and very low leakage currents.
| Input voltage range | 2.5 V – 15 V |
|---|---|
| Output voltage range | 2.5 V – 15 V |
| Maximum storage temperature | -65 °C to 150 °C |
| Maximum lead (soldering) temperature | 300 °C (10 s) |
It is a monolithic CMOS battery‑backup circuit that automatically connects the higher‑potential supply to the output and provides logic status indicators.
The device operates with input voltages from 2.5 V to 15 V.
Complete switching of the inputs and open‑drain outputs typically occurs in about 50 µs.
