This document is about APEM's MEMBRANE KEYPAD products, including information such as maximum voltage, current, contact resistance, insulation resistance, mechanical properties, sealing, etc.
APEM offers five series of stainless‑steel keypads and keyboards designed for harsh environments. The series (7, 8, 8P, 8Z, 9) provide options such as laser marking, chemical etching, backlighting, and modular key layouts, with IP5/IP65 sealing for protection.
Technical data include contact force, travel, voltage and current limits, as well as mechanical dimensions and cut‑out drawings. Customisation is possible for key shape, colour, LED backlight and interface (PS/2 or USB).
| Contact force | 04N±05N |
|---|---|
| Maximum voltage | 24 VDC |
| Contact travel | 0.5 mm |
| Maximum current | 50 mA |
| Contact resistance | < 10 Ω |
| Sealing (IP rating) | IP5 |
| Dielectric strength | 250 V |
| Insulation resistance | > 100 MΩ |
| Operating temperature | -20 °C to +70 °C |
| Supply voltage options | +5 V, +12 V, +24 V DC |
| Backlit key current (8 series) | 10–40 mA |
| Backlit key current (9 series) | 10–20 mA |
The keypads are sealed to IP5 (and some models to IP65) for protection against dust and water.
They can be powered from +5 V, +12 V or +24 V DC.
The contacts are rated for up to 1,000,000 operations.
