About this manual

The MAX3160E, MAX3161E and MAX3162E are programmable multiprotocol transceivers that support RS‑232, RS‑485 and RS‑422 interfaces. They operate from a single supply of +3 V to +5.5 V and feature ±15 kV ESD protection, a 10 nA shutdown current, and selectable transmitter slew‑rate settings.

The devices are offered in tiny SSOP packages, provide true fail‑safe receiver outputs, and can be configured for half‑ or full‑duplex operation. They are suitable for point‑of‑sale equipment, industrial controls, networking and security system interfaces.
