The MCP9700/9700A and MCP9701/9701A are a family of Linear Active Thermistor™ Intergrated Circuit (IC) from Microchip Technology Inc. It is an analog temperature sensor that converts temperature to analog voltage, with a wide temperature measurement range of -40°C to +125°C, high accuracy of ±2°C from 0°C to +70°C;±4°C from 0°C to +70°C, low power consumption of 6 µA, and can be used to drive large capacitive loads.
The MCP9700/9700A and MCP9701/9701A families are low‑power linear active thermistor ICs that convert temperature to an analog voltage. They are offered in SC‑70‑5, SOT‑23‑5, and TO‑92‑3 packages and are optimized for direct connection to ADC inputs of microcontrollers.
Key features include a wide operating voltage range (2.3 V‑5.5 V for MCP9700/9700A, 3.1 V‑5.5 V for MCP9701/9701A), low operating current (6 µA typical), and temperature coefficients of 10 mV/°C (MCP9700/9700A) or 19.5 mV/°C (MCP9701/9701A). Accuracy can be improved with calibration at a known temperature.

The MCP9700 operates from 2.3 V to 5.5 V.
The MCP9700A provides a typical accuracy of ±2 °C over that range.
The device uses a 5‑pin package with pins for GND, Vout, Vpp, and two no‑connect pins.
Accuracy can be improved by calibrating the system at a known temperature, such as +25 °C.
