The 3M 3998 Waterproof Cloth Tape is a flexible, polyethylene‑coated woven cloth tape with a strong rubber‑resin adhesive. It offers high strength, easy‑tear backing, and excellent water and humidity resistance, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial uses.
The tape can be applied to clean, dry, non‑dusty surfaces above 0 °C, and it is available in multiple colours such as white, green, red, silver, black, light blue, and olive drab. Key performance figures include a tensile strength of 70 N/10 mm, adhesion to stainless steel of 0.5 N/10 mm, and a maximum service temperature of 50 °C.

Best results are attained when applied to a clean, dry, non‑dusty surface above 0 °C.
The tape has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of despatch when stored in its original carton at 21 °C and 50 % relative humidity.
The tape is offered in White, Green, Red, Silver, Black, Light Blue, and Olive drab.
The tape can be used up to a maximum temperature of 50 °C.
