The MAX3316–MAX3319 transceivers are 2-wire half RS-232 transceivers that integrate Maxim's proprietary low-dropout transmitter output stage, allowing for RS-232 compatible performance from +2.25V to +3.0V with a dual-charge pump.
The MAX3316‑MAX3319 family are low‑dropout RS‑232‑compatible transceivers that operate from +2.25 V to +3.0 V and support data rates up to 460 kbps. They include Maxim’s AutoShutdown Plus feature, which reduces supply current to micro‑amp levels when the RS‑232 cable is disconnected or idle for more than 30 seconds, and a READY logic output indicating charge‑pump status.
These devices are offered in space‑saving 16‑pin SSOP and 20‑pin TSSOP packages (MAX3316) and 20‑pin SSOP/TSSOP for the other variants. Typical applications include palmtop computers, handheld instruments, pagers, cellular phones, GPS units, and other portable electronics. The datasheet contains absolute maximum ratings, electrical and timing characteristics, pin descriptions, and example application circuits.
