This document describes the features and characteristics of MDE Semiconductor, Inc.'s MAX™ 20 Series High Current Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diode. The diode is bidirectional and has a peak pulse power of 20000 watts, excellent clamping capability, sharp breakdown voltage, fast response time, and is suitable for bipolar applications.
The MAX‑20 series from MDE Semiconductor provides bidirectional TVS diodes with very high peak pulse power (up to 20 kW) and fast response times. Features include glass‑passivated junctions, low incremental surge resistance, and excellent clamping capability.
Mechanical data list Ag‑plated axial leads, a weight of about 1.64 g, and a mounting position that can be any orientation. Electrical ratings cover a voltage range of 5 V to 150 V, peak pulse currents up to 20 kW on a 10 ns/1000 ps waveform, and a duty‑cycle of 0.05 %.
| Peak Pulse Power | 20000 W |
|---|---|
| Response Time | < 1.0 ps |
| Terminal Type | Ag plated axial leads, solderable per MIL‑STD‑750 |
| Weight | 1.64 g |
The diode can handle up to 20 kW of peak pulse power on a 10 ns/1000 ps waveform.
Its response time is typically less than 1.0 ps from 0 V to breakdown voltage.
It uses silver‑plated axial leads that are solderable according to MIL‑STD‑750.
