This document describes the features and characteristics of CMOS 200 MSPS 14-Bit Quadrature Digital Upconverter AD9857 Rev. C, including 200 MHz internal clock rate, 14-bit data path, excellent dynamic performance, etc.
The AD9857 integrates a high‑speed direct digital synthesizer, a 14‑bit DAC, clock‑multiplier circuitry and digital filters into a single LQFP package. It is intended for use as a universal I/Q modulator, agile upconverter, single‑tone DDS, or interpolating DAC in communications applications where size, power and dynamic performance are critical.
The device operates from a 3.3 V supply over an industrial temperature range of –40 °C to +85 °C, supports a 200 MHz internal clock, and offers programmable reference‑clock multiplication (4×‑20×). Detailed specifications include resolution, output current, gain error, SFDR and power‑consumption figures.
| Supply Voltage (Vs) | 3.3 V ±5 % |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 14 Bits |
| Full‑Scale Output Current | 5 – 20 mA |
| Gain Error | 0 % FS |
| Output Offset | 2 pA |
| Differential Nonlinearity | 1.6 LSB |
| Integral Nonlinearity | 2 LSB |
| Wideband SFDR (1 MHz‑20 MHz) | -75 dBc |
| Maximum Clock Frequency | 200 MHz |
| Operating Temperature Range | –40 °C to +85 °C |
The AD9857 is specified to operate from –40 °C to +85 °C.
The device supports an internal clock rate of up to 200 MHz.
In full‑operating conditions it draws between 540 mA and 615 mA at 3.3 V.
The DAC provides a 14‑bit resolution.
