This application note explains the benefits of Vishay's HVArc Guard® surface‑mount capacitors for low‑power voltage multiplier circuits. The devices prevent surface arc‑over without the need for conformal coating, saving board space and assembly cost, and are suitable for high‑voltage applications such as X‑ray systems, air ionizers, oscilloscopes and flyback converters.
