In terms of long-term data retention, the DXi6500 is designed to provide direct tape creation functionality in collaboration with leading backup applications, such as those using the OpenStorage (OST) API from Symantec, enabling easy management of multi-point, multi-tier protection for both immediate recovery and long-term retention. The DXi6500 supports VMware and provides powerful protection for virtual environments, with each unit including backup software for VMware.
