AN2863 is an application note from ST about Smart Inductive Proximity Switch SPT01-335DEE

This application note describes the electronic lamp ballast for 70 W high intensity discharge (HID) metal halide lamps (MHL) used for general indoor applications. The ballast is composed of a boost converter and an inverter. The inverter is realized by a full bridge driver with a power control circuit. The booster converter for power factor correction (PFC) is controlled by the L6562A controller (U1). The inverter is a full bridge topology driven by two pairs of half bridge buck converters, L6385E (U3) and L6569 (U4), with the constant power control circuit L6562A (U2). In this note the dual-buck converter is introduced. One works in high frequency and the other works in complementarity with necessary dead time at a lower frequency.

This application note investigates the possibility of using a TDE1708DFT switch for the physical layer transmitter realization of 3-wire IO-Link sensors. The TDE1708DFT is an integrated power switch especially dedicated to proximity detectors. It can deliver up to 250 mA, enables high-side and low-side configurations and includes a number of protections. According to the IO-Link Communication Specification (see Section 8: References -3. and for the TDE1708DFT features - see Section 8: References - 1.) two basic slave transmitter configurations were tested (see Figure 1): p-switching (high-side) driver p-switching driver with an additional n-switching (low-side) driver (push-pull operation). Figure 1. P-switching slave drive and p-switching with n-switching slave drive In the following test arrangements the input load current (ILLM) is fixed to 10 mA which represents the average master current sink value specified for a 3-wire system. The master (CQM), slave (CQL), and line capacitances are set together at 4.7 nF, corresponding to the maximum parasitic capacitance of the system.

The tests described in this document were carried out to check the VNI4140K parameters and driving capabilities of different types of problematic loads such as bulb and inductor. The VNI4140K device is a quad high-side smart power state relay intended for driving four independent resistive or inductive loads with built-in current limitation and thermal shutdown.

This document describes a software and hardware solution using the STM32x microcontroller and the STPM01 power meter for measuring mains power consumption, and provides hardware and firmware guidelines to interface the STPM01 with the STM32x microcontroller.

Introduces AN3157 Application note content, including the product's features and usage methods.

In this application note, a power AC-DC converter suitable for use as the current supply for the MMA welding process is described. The MMA welding method is the most common method used for welding iron or steel. In recent years, the availability of low-cost and reliable solutions based on power electronics has shifted the approach to this application from a standard magnetic solution based on a low-frequency iron transformer to a high-frequency switching solution. This allows for compact and lightweight solutions at a relatively low price. The electronic control used in modern welding machines enables simple and safe use, so even an unskilled person can achieve good weld quality.
