This is an application note for the DEMOTS4909 evaluation board, which is designed to evaluate the TS4909 low power stereo headphone amplifier with capacitor-less output.

This document provides user guidelines for the evaluation board DEMOTS488/9, which is designed to evaluate the TS488 or TS489 low power stereo headphone amplifier. The TS488/9 is an enhancement of TS486/487 and eliminates pop & click noise. It is a dual audio power amplifier capable of driving a 16Ω or 32Ω stereo headset in single-ended mode. It can deliver up to 31mW per channel (into 16Ω loads) of continuous average power with 0.1% THD+N in the audio bandwidth from a 2.5V power supply. The TS488/9 features externally-controlled standby mode, low current consumption, high signal-to-noise ratio, high crosstalk immunity, and high PSRR.

This application note describes how to connect the STA333ML demo board, how to evaluate the demo board performance with electrical curve data, and how to avoid critical board and layout issues.

The TS4995 is a fully differential structure power audio amplifier that is capable of delivering 1.2W of continuous RMS output power into an 8Ω load at 5V. Due to its differential inputs, it exhibits outstanding noise immunity. An external standby mode control reduces the supply current to less than 10nA. A STBY MODE pin allows the standby to be active High or Low. An internal thermal shutdown protection is also provided, making the device capable of sustaining short-circuits. The TS4995 features an internal fixed gain at 6dB which reduces the number of external components on the application board, and the flip-chip package with 9 bumps allows maximum space saving. Its key features are: Differential inputs, 90dB PSRR @ 217Hz with grounded inputs, Operating range from VCC = 2.5V to 5.5V, 1.2W rail to rail output power @ VCC=5V, THD+N=1%, F=1kHz, with 8Ω load, 6dB integrated fixed gain, Ultra-low consumption in standby mode and internal thermal shutdown protection.

This document describes the STEVAL-CCA038V1 which is the demonstration board based on the TS4871 low-power audio amplifier. The micropackage DFN8 (dual flat no-lead 8-pin) is compact, saving board space and has good thermal dissipation. The BTL gain is set at 2 V/V and can be adapted if necessary by modifying the R1 or R2 values. On the board, the R3 and C3 component locations are empty to allow the designer to modify the input configuration from single-ended to differential mode. For differential mode, R4 must be modified. The C1 component location is also empty in order to add a low-pass filter if required. For more detailed information on calculating the component values, refer to the TS4871 datasheet.
