AN2679 Application note Smart inductive proximity switch introduces the design principle, circuit description, usage and features of STEVAL-IFS006V1 inductive proximity switch demonstration board, which is suitable for simple, price-sensitive applications.

This application note describes how to use the ST7 I2C peripheral for PMBus communication. It explains the process of using the ST72264G1 microcontroller as the PMBus master to control PMBus compatible slaves, and provides a demonstration board to showcase the PMBus capabilities of ST7.

This application note describes how to configure the STMicroelectronics STOTG04 USB OTG transceiver for low power mode. This mode can reduce the transceiver's power consumption to 1 μA, and can disable its functionality when not needed.

This document describes the hardware implementation of STEVAL-IFP001V1, with a focus on PCB design, which is critical for EMC immunity robustness and thermal management. The VN808CM-E is a monolithic device designed in STMicroelectronics VIPower M0-3 technology. The product is intended for driving any kind of load with one side connected to ground. It can be driven by using a 5.0V or 3.3V logic supply. This allows realizing an output stage without optical decoupling or another level-shifting. Active current limitation, combined with thermal shutdown and automatic restart, protect the device against accidental or long-time short circuit and overload. The complete solution is implemented on a double-face board with only two copper layers, which is cost-effective, and the precision of routing is cost-optimized. STEVAL-IFP001V1 is delivered in a set with a CD-ROM including board fabrication data (Gerber files), this user manual, and related devices documentation.

The STPM01 is a programmable single-phase energy metering IC. This application note describes the STPM01 external circuits, which include a crystal oscillator, a power supply circuit, a voltage sensing circuit, and two current sensing circuits.

The ST8024 is a smart card interface designed to minimize microprocessor hardware and software complexity in all applications that require a smart card (e.g., Set Top Box, Electronic Payment, Pay TV, and Identification cards). It was developed in accordance with New Digital Systems (NDS) conditional access requirements, and implements all of the blocks and procedures for card activation/deactivation and checking (see Figure 1).

This application note describes the functions of VN808/VN340SP high-side drivers in industrial applications. The VN340SP and VN808 are monolithic devices based on VIPower technology. This application note covers the various tests used to ensure compliance with international electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) specifications as well as other requirements. VN808/VN340SP high-side drivers are tested mounted on their respective reference design board (RDB).

This document describes how to use the STPM01 metering device and a shunt current sensor in single-phase metering applications, while emphasizing the special considerations to be taken into account in shunt design.

The STPM01 and STPM10 devices are energy meter ASSPs (Application Specific Standard Products) designed to address a wide range of electricity metering requirements thanks to their built-in functionalities as signal conditioning, signal processing, data conversion, input/output signals and voltage reference. STPM10 is dedicated for peripheral use only in microcontroller based applications, while STPM01 is able to work as a peripheral but also as a standalone device, since it can permanently store configuration and calibration data. Both the devices have an SPI port to write configuration parameters and read all the information on the line energy from their internal registers. Measured data (like active, reactive and apparent energy, VRMS, IRMS, instantaneous voltage and current, line frequency, device status etc.) should be read by the microcontroller at a fixed time interval to be further processed. This application note describes the SPI protocol to read measured data from STPM01 and STPM10 in a single-phase energy meter and how these readings should be processed by the application.

The TD351 is an advanced IGBT driver with integrated control and protection functions. It is suitable for driving 1200V IGBT modules. It features a minimum output peak sink current of 1A and source current of 0.75A over the full temperature range (-20°C to 125°C), active Miller clamp function, and optional 2-step turn-off sequence.

The purpose of this document is to provide the circuit designer with some insight into how the TDE1897C, TDE1897R, TDE1898C and TDE1898R devices behave in extreme overload conditions. These devices are monolithic intelligent power switches (IPS) in high-side configuration, suitable for driving resistive and inductive loads. They exhibit extreme ruggedness and ability to overcome accidental overload.

The TD350 is an advanced IGBT/MOSFET driver with integrated control and protection functions. Principles of operation and application examples for the TD350 are described extensively in application note AN1944. The present application note concerns the characteristics and use of the demoboard available for testing the TD350.
