The KEYENCE ES-M1/M2 proximity sensor instruction manual provides installation, wiring, operation, and safety guidelines.
This manual describes the ES-M1 main unit and the ES-M2 expansion unit, their part names, functions, and key features such as one‑line connection, European terminal wiring, disconnection alarm, and mutual‑interference suppression. It also lists the accessories supplied with each unit and gives detailed wiring instructions for the sensor head and amplifier.
Installation procedures cover mounting the amplifier on a DIN rail or side bracket, mounting the sensor head, configuring the output mode, and connecting multiple amplifiers. Operational sections explain near‑on/off settings, trimmer adjustment, and safety cautions. The specifications section provides electrical ratings, temperature limits, and detecting distance information.
| Supply voltage | 12 to 24 VDC |
|---|---|
| Load current (max) | 100 mA |
| Output current limit | 20 mA |
| Operating temperature (1‑10 units) | 0 to +50 °C (32 to 122 °F) |
| Operating temperature (11‑16 units) | 0 to +45 °C (32 to 113 °F) |
The sensor head cable should be limited to 10 m or less (5 m when the EH‑302/402 head is used).
Hook the claw on the amplifier cable side onto the DIN rail, then hook the front side claw while pressing the amplifier forward.
The alarm indicator turns on when the sensor head is disconnected, allowing quick detection of an abnormal condition.
The output current must not exceed 20 mA.
