This datasheet describes the ams CCS811, an ultra-low power digital gas sensor for monitoring indoor air quality using MOX technology.
The ams CCS811 is an ultra-low power digital gas sensor solution that integrates a metal oxide (MOX) gas sensor to detect a wide range of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) for indoor air quality monitoring. It includes an integrated microcontroller unit (MCU), an Analog-to-Digital converter (ADC), and an I²C interface. The device is based on ams unique micro-hotplate technology, enabling a highly reliable solution with very fast cycle times and a significant reduction in average power consumption.
| Supply Current (In mode 1) | 30 mA |
|---|---|
| Power Consumption (Idle Mode) | 0.034 mW at VDD= 1.8V |
| Operating Temperature | -5 to 50°C |
| Storage Temperature | -40 to 125°C |
| I²C Frequency | 10 to 400 kHz |
| eCO2 Output Range | 400ppm to 8192ppm |
| TVOC Output Range | 0ppb to 1187ppb |
The minimum supply voltage VDD is 1.8V and should not drop below this value for reliable device operation.
After writing to MEAS_MODE to configure the sensor in mode 1-4, run CCS811 for 20 minutes before accurate readings are generated.
Yes, it supports an external interface for connecting a negative thermal coefficient (NTC) thermistor to calculate local ambient temperature for compensation.
