The ams CCS811 is an ultra‑low‑power digital gas sensor for indoor air quality monitoring, featuring an integrated MCU, ADC and I²C interface.
The CCS811 combines a metal‑oxide gas sensor with an on‑chip microcontroller, ADC and a standard I²C digital interface, enabling compact, low‑power indoor air‑quality solutions such as smartphones, wearables and home automation. It provides eCO₂ (equivalent CO₂) and TVOC (total volatile organic compounds) readings without host processing.
The device is offered in a 10‑lead 2.7 mm × 4.0 mm × 1.1 mm LGA package, supports five measurement modes (0‑4) with configurable power and sampling rates, and includes optional NTC temperature compensation. Electrical specifications include a 1.8‑3.6 V supply range, up to 60 mW power consumption in active mode, and I²C bus speeds up to 400 kHz.
| Sleep Mode Current | 19 µA |
|---|---|
| Package | 10‑lead LGA 2.7 mm × 4.0 mm × 1.1 mm |
| I²C Bus Frequency | 10 kHz – 400 kHz |
The sensor uses a standard I²C digital interface for data transfer.
The CCS811 provides five modes (0‑4); mode 0 is idle, mode 1 measures every second, mode 2 every 10 s, mode 3 every 60 s, and mode 4 supplies raw data every 250 ms.
After setting a measurement mode, the sensor should run for about 20 minutes before accurate readings are generated.
It is supplied in a 10‑lead LGA package measuring 2.7 mm × 4.0 mm × 1.1 mm.
