About this manual

The EDP-AM-MC1 is a motor controller module designed for the RS EDP system, based on the LM18200 full DMOS bridge controller. It is intended to drive 12V DC brushed motors of up to 2A, with a maximum of 3A permitted when the auxiliary power connector is utilized. The module requires software running on a CPU module to function, as it contains no internal intelligence. It supports various input types for limit switches, tachogenerators, encoders, and fault signals to facilitate precise motor control strategies.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum continuous current the module can drive?

The module is designed to drive motors of up to 2A continuous current.

How can the module be configured to drive motors requiring more than 2A?

For motors above 2A, the auxiliary high current connector P302 must be used to supply 12V and ground, and jumper JP301 must be set to position 2-3.

Does the module contain internal intelligence for motor control?

No, there is no intelligence contained within the module, and software running on a CPU module is required to realize a useful motor drive.
