This document provides advice on designing applications based on devices of the ST10F27x family, including the ST10F276, ST10F275, ST10F273, ST10F272, and ST10F271. It covers information and recommendations on using an external resonator with the on-chip oscillator, details on start-up configuration and necessary precautions, filtering, decoupling, and use of special pins, recommendations to reduce ADC conversion errors, memory interface, and interfacing with the L4969 CAN interface.
This document offers recommendations for designing applications based on the ST10F27x device family. It details how to use an external resonator with the on-chip oscillator, including start-up configurations and PCB layout guidelines to minimize EMC issues.
The guide also covers Port 0 start-up configuration, filtering and decoupling strategies for power pins, usage of special pins like EA/VSTBY and RDP, reset sequences, methods to reduce Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) conversion errors, interfacing with external memory, and connecting the device to the L4969 CAN interface.

The devices implement either a Wide-swing oscillator (for models ending in E) or a Low-power oscillator (for models ending in E/B).
Ceramic resonators have a much shorter start-up time than crystals, being about 100 times faster.
The recommended maximum value for pull-down resistors on Port 0 is 8kΩ, though commonly used values are 10kΩ.
