This document describes the features and characteristics of the NE5080 supplier.
The Philips NE5080 is a transmitter chip designed as part of a two-chip set for FSK modems, specifically intended for use in IEEE 802.4 compliant single-channel phase-continuous-FSK token bus networks. It transmits high-frequency asynchronous data on coaxial cable at rates from DC to 2M baud, accepting serial data and converting it into a periodic signal based on logic high or low states.
| Data rates | DC to 2M baud |
|---|---|
| Maximum junction temperature | +150 °C |
The Jabber Control pin is used to control the maximum time the transmitter can be on by sourcing a current to charge a capacitor or sense externally.
The carrier frequency is set up by external trimming components, specifically a variable resistor and capacitors connected to the OSC pins.
