This document introduces how to upgrade Agilent 1100 Series LC systems to Agilent 1200 Series RRLC systems for higher performance. The upgrade can be done through a step-by-step upgrade of Agilent 1100 Series system to Agilent 1200 Series RRLC system that is fully configured to provide: Shorter run and cycle times for increased productivity; More resolution for more certainty of not missing impurities; Improved signal-to-noise ratios for lower detection limits.
Agilent Technologies presents a method to optimize existing Agilent 1100 Series LC systems by upgrading them step-by-step to the newer Agilent 1200 Series Rapid Resolution Liquid Chromatography (RRLC) technology. The document outlines four specific steps involving the replacement of columns, detectors, and column compartments to achieve faster results and better resolution.
The upgrade process begins with replacing a standard column packed with 5 µm particles with a shorter column packed with 1.8 µm particles. Subsequent steps involve swapping the detector for an Agilent 1200 Series diode array detector (DAD SL) and integrating a thermostatted column compartment designed to operate up to 100 °C. The final configuration includes a low-delay binary pump, resulting in significantly improved signal-to-noise ratios and resolution.
The Agilent 1200 Series thermostatted column compartment SL is designed to operate up to 100 °C.
The peak-to-peak noise for this application was 0.2928 mAU.
The new heat exchanger had an internal volume of 1.6 pL.
