The SAA2510 is a Video CD (VCD) decoder that supports decoding and display of MPEG1 video streams, decoding of MPEG audio streams, storage and display of high-resolution still pictures, and other features.
The Philips SAA2510 is an integrated circuit designed as a Video CD (VCD) decoder intended for use in low-cost dedicated players. It decodes MPEG1 video streams with constrained parameters and MPEG audio streams of layer II, while also supporting the decoding, storage, and display of high-resolution still pictures.
The chip features a 2C-bus interface and provides digital video output in YUV 4:2:2 format (DMSD bus compatible) or CCIR656. It includes an on-screen display capability and supports various disc interfaces such as Philips 2S, EIAJ, MEC, and IEC 958.
| Supply Voltage (Vop3) | 3.0 to 3.6 V |
|---|---|
| System Clock Frequency | 40 MHz |
| Video Clock Frequency | 27 MHz |
| Audio Clock Input Frequency | 16.9344 MHz |
| Operating Temperature Range | -20 to +70 °C |
The decoder displays high-resolution still pictures with a size of 704 x 576 pixels.
The chip requires only 4 Mbits of external 70 ns DRAM.
