About this manual

The PCF2103 family is a low power CMOS LCD controller and driver designed to drive dot matrix LCD displays. It supports 2-line by 12 or 1-line by 24 character formats with 5x8 data format, including support for kana (Japanese syllabary) and user-defined symbols.

The chip provides all necessary functions in a single package, including on-chip generation of LCD bias voltages to minimize external components. It interfaces to microcontrollers via a 4 or 8-bit parallel bus or a 2-wire I²C-bus.
